Mario Koster acts as independent director for a number of regulated and unregulated funds investing in traditional and alternative (e.g. private equity, real estate, infrastructure, debt, etc.) asset classes and he provides consultancy services to management companies and asset managers. Mario has 25 years of experience in the financial sector, 20 thereof in the Luxembourg investment fund industry. Mario is a seasoned risk manager with specialist knowledge in relation to risk management for funds governed by the UCITS and the AIFMD framework. Further, he has qualified experience and knowledge in fund operations and fund governance.

Before starting his independent professional activities, Mario worked at Carne Group where he was a member of the executive committee and conducting officer of the Luxembourg regulated UCITS and AIFM management company. Mario was acting as risk manager of Carne Luxembourg before he took over the responsibility for the operations, compliance and portfolio management functions.

Mario previously worked as senior risk manager at Allianz Global Investors in Luxembourg and London. He was involved in projects across all European management companies of Allianz Global Investors. Prior to this, Mario was employed by Cominvest Asset Management Luxembourg S.A. in the fund accounting department where he was leading a team.

Mario started his career as banker at a German bank, is a certified banker and graduate in bank management and business administration. Mario participated in various risk management working groups at ALFI (Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry). He is fluent in German and English.
